Ukraine: Don’t Forget “There Is No Free Lunch.”
The world economy is sinking yet, “$5.6 billion in firepower the US has committed to Ukraine in its fight against Russia”.
I live in Europe, so I find it difficult to form an inside opinion about how regular American citizens see the Democrats these days, seeing how the world economy is sinking, all while their leaders are shipping yet another 1 billion in military aid to Ukraine, representing the 12th instalment since Russia started the war in February 2024.
Do you think this huge financial aid comes from Mr Zelensky’s compelling requests to assist Ukraine in fighting the Russian war, or do you sense there’s more to it?
While I’m not a political expert, I am endowed with plenty of common sense and some intelligence to do the math and understand that the US has some important geopolitical reasons for investing in Ukraine. Because, interestingly enough, if you look at it from the outside, it almost feels like the US plays the role of a big-ass sponsor that pours money into a potentially famous, still young and malleable sports team that can triple its profits. All while it stays in the dark watching the show and grinding its teeth each time its favourite takes a hit.
