The Soaking Bath that I Never Took
BC (Before Child)I used to hate taking a bath. I always felt it took too much of my time to just stay and do nothing. I very much regarded it as a boring and unnecessary activity, since you can shower instead. Nonetheless, sometime during my pregnancy, when my body was aching and my legs were restless, I discovered how relaxing and soothing a warm bath can be. For a good part of my last trimester, I would have spent quite a few nights per week soaked in the water to relieve my body from pain and manage my restless feet syndrome. AF (After Baby) this treat was out of the question. I barely had any time to shower, let alone a bath.
Now I see taking a bath as the supreme luxury. It’s time away from everyone after the toddler is asleep when I can (or could — to be more precise) relax for 10 minutes to release the tension in my muscles from sleep deprivation, caring around the son when is clingy and needy, and from clenching my jaw when my husband gets on my nerves.
Today was the day I wanted to take a bath. I haven’t showered properly in quite a few days (and I’m not ashamed to admit it, it’s not because I’m lazy, it’s because of prioritization), washing instead here and there as different body parts became urgent.
