That's why I not make a goal from succeeding on Medium. I write when I feel like it and based on personal experience. The first purpose Medium servers me is to be a fun activity. If that transforms into a job, then I lost my purpose and I'll stop. There are too many prerequisites, for my taste, to rely totally on Medium as an income. Not to brag, but during my first month on Medium a couple of my stories took off based on sheer luck. So, you could do all those 5 steps and still not make it and you could just enjoy the process and see where it's taking you.
