If I Were Will Smith’s Wife, I’d Be so Embarrassed Right Now.

Let women speak for themselves.

Was Will Smith’s radical gesture at Oscar’s a chivalrous act to protect his wife’s image, or is it condemnable? Chris Rock, a comedian and a presenter to Oscars, made a joke that included people in Oscar’s audience, and one of the jokes was directed towards Will Smith’s wife’s shaved head. Since last night, the world chasmed between people supporting Chris Rock’s containment after being hit by Will Smith and others supporting Will Smith’s gesture to stand up for his wife. She suffered from a health condition called alopecia, so she’s shaving her head since 2018 if I’m not mistaken.

I agree that we shouldn’t make jokes about people’s medical conditions; however, on the other hand, it should have been her to react, not her husband. They could have just gracefully moved on with the remark, and maybe the joke would have been simply forgotten in a day or two. Or who knows, maybe the Internet would have made her into a meme for “GI Jane 2”. Additionally, the comparison with the “G.I. Jane” — the fictitious story of Jordan O’Neil, the first woman to undergo Seal training is not the worst. At least not compared with this whole “scene”.

Chris Rock is a comedian, and that’s what comedians do — jokes. And this was a good joke who might have stroke…
