Good story. As long as it works for your family, this is great! I do believe, though, in the power of being balanced. In a way, I think it’s easier to go to either extreme instead of focusing on staying in between.

The fact that your kids get to watch TV to their grandparents and their aunt doesn’t mean they are raised without a TV. Prohibiting something can make you more be curious about it. What you are doing are rules. In your house there’s no TV. Which is fine. But as you said it, don’t expect it to make you any better than families that expose their children to electronics in a balanced matter. At the end of the day we live in a world surrounded by technology. I wouldn’t, personally, keep my child away from it; technology, including TV is not bad. What is bad is not regulating the exposure for their specific age.

Have a fantastic new year and if you miss the TV you can safely get one — you’ll still be a good parent, I’m sure.
