Exactly, Emily. Mr. Zelensky is everything our other leaders lack. That's why he is so charismatic. He also has the perfect context for showing his heroism because the reality is, you either go with this image of an involved leader, or anything else he would have done instead would have been harshly judged. If Ukraine can stand any chance in this role he plays the important mission to inspire everyone watching (have you seen those translators crying?)
I want to believe in him, but I am skeptical at this point.
He started pushing a bit too much by asking the EU to take Ukraine in urgently. That's a sizable ask, too soon. Let's keep some balance instead of jeopardizing the entire peace in Europe when we could do it otherwise. I am not saying to abandon them but it needs to be a balancing act.
Zelensky's almost theatrical performance could push world leaders to emotional decisions. Here I said it. That's what scares me about this guy.
