As women, we’re composed of several layers. Once we become mothers, we are responsible for our children's best interest. Relationships have never been easy. Everyone struggles even and we can see hypocrisy at every corner. Deciding to leave it’s never easy when you have children. Therefore, as mothers, first of all, we need to perform a cost-benefit analysis before we call it quits.

My story was phrased to disturb. To raise the spirits. Nonetheless, it’s takeaway is simple: I choose to put my child’s interest before my own needs as a woman. And it’s not sacrificed, it’s common sense.

As I said in the story, he’s not violent — that would have been an immediate deal-breaker. Also, even though he gets on my nerves often, he’s a decent person. Both of us need to learn that now it’s not about us anymore, it’s about our son. And that’s what I want to help him understand.

I will probably write a follow-up story to this one. I’m glad it raised the spirits. That was my intention.

Have a fantastic year and hang in there!
