A big debate is going on as we speak about the future of art, especially regarding the fate of artists, in the context of the emergence of AI-generated artwork.

If you haven’t heard about it already, learn that there’s a growing presence of text-to-image AI-based tools that people have learned to use to create amazing and impressive artworks that could easily be replaced as decor pieces or as marketing materials that historically took countless hours to produce in the past.

Text-to-image AI systems are trained on billions of pairs of images and text descriptions, which they mine for visual patterns. Users then feed them text descriptions known as prompts, and the software generates an image that matches this description based on its training data. — The Verge

There’s no question that AI artwork will turn into its own category in different digital art contests, and when that happens, at least, it will be fair. You’ll see different people skilled in creating perfect prompts to generate the best image possible, and they will be competing using the same tools.
